From two decades of corporate madness to a full stop

When my last corporate job of 17 years ended, I took a year off.
I didn’t learn a new language, didn't bake sourdough, didn't travel the world, definitely didn't go back to school to add shiny new skills to my portfolio.
And for the longest time I didn’t apply for any jobs because I didn’t want to start any.

I just walked the dogs.
365 days of photo journalling dog walks.

In 25 years of work, I can count on one hand the times I’ve taken more than two weeks off. It didn't take me long to realise that I didn't just want to go back to corporate for any job, but it took longer than 365 days to reset the corporate mindset.

Communication I still love. I’m the person who reads labels on ketchup bottles and evaluates - ... judges - them. I can't watch ads without analysing them. I can’t switch off the comms brain nor do I want to.

So, I continue to communicate, make complexity understandable, make empathy possible, and put ideas into words that others can believe, follow, or be convinced by. But for now with Skill Boxx I get to make the rules.

The day I earned my first money as a freelancer I stopped documenting the dog walks. I haven't stop doing them.

Say hi and connect if you can relate. I know there's lots of you out there.
I read your stories every day.
